几个关于统计学的joke

可能是thanksgiving被GIS折磨得太厉害的缘故,今天还没有振作精神,在网上泡了好久看到几个关于统计学的小joke,特转载如下,寥做慰藉。

(1) "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
   — Attributed by Mark Twain to Benjamin Disraeli.

(2) Hello, this is probably 438-9012, yes, the house of the famous statistician. I’m probably not at home, or not wanting to answer the phone, most probably the latter, according to my latest calculations. Supposing that the universe doesn’t end in the next 30 seconds, the odds of which I’m still trying to calculate, you can leave your name, phone number, and message, and I’ll probably phone you back. So far the probability of that is about 0.645. Have a nice day.

(3) I’m not an outlier; I just haven’t found my distribution yet.(这个是我最欣赏的,呵呵)

(4) According to recent surveys, 51% of the people are in the majority.(这个听起来像美国的sociologists,呵呵)
